Handwriting Challenge!
I would like to challenge each student to a handwriting challenge. You will find an alphabet handwriting sheet you can download and print. It will be two pages. The first page works on the uppercase letters and the second page works on the lowercase letter. Here is the challenge: any student that can turn in 5 uppercase and 5 lowercase sheets with correct letter formation and line orientation will earn a surprise. This seems to be a difficult task for many of us and the more practice we can get the more it will assist us with our writing curriculum that we need to begin the very near future. Please spend some time with your child modeling for them how to correctly form these letters. I would encourage you to be present while they are working on these. Please send ALL 10 sheets to school at the same time in order for your son/daughter to earn their surprise. Your child must have his/her name on each page as well. This is a great opportunity for them to work on their names. Thanks for all your support. I know you will be amazed at how this challenge will really benefit your child’s understanding of handwriting.

We have been working on writing our first names. Please encourage your child to practice writing their name at home. In Kindergarten we use a capital letter for our first letter and lowercase letters for the remaining letters of our name. Please do not allow your child to write in all CAPITAL letters. If you would like practice at home to help your child you will find a class set of our name sheets you can download below. Just print the page with your child’s name and you are all set. This is the same sheet we will be using to practice in class. Feel free to encourage your child to practice their friends’ names too. This is great handwriting practice and will also assist with the recognition of their friends’ names.
